CCCE Scholar participated in the New England Science Symposium
Angel Andino, a first year Computer Science student from the Universidad Metropolitana, and a CCCE scholar, represented us with a poster presentation “Spice Solid Precipitation Inter-Comparison Experiment” at the New England Science Symposium which it was held at Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts on March 2, 2013.

Computer Day and Computer Olympiad at Colegio Nuestra Señora del Carmen, San Juan, Puerto Rico
Forty (40) high school students from participated in the workshop. Luis Bilbraut, a CCCE Scholar, offered and Introduction to Computer Programing using SCRATCH workshop, along with Tomas Yan Melo, the CCCE Coordinator. After the workshop a Computer Olympiad was held under the guidance of Luis Bilbraut, CCCE Scholar; Natalia Santiago, UMET Undergraduate Student; and Tomas Yan Melo, CCCE Coordinator. The top three scores were Cilianelle Nieves (third place), Patricia Laracuente (second place), and Adriana M. Ortiz (first place).

Workshop: Introduction to Computer Programing Using SCRATCH at the Christian Nazarene Academy in Levittown, Puerto Rico
This workshop was held at the Christian Nazarene Academy in Levittown on February 20, 2013. Fourteen (14) middle school and high school students from the Academy participated in the workshop. Luis Bilbraut, a CCCE Scholar, was the instructor of the workshop along with Dr. Juan F. Arratia, Principal Investigator of the CCCE.

Tour of the NOAA Ronald H. Brown Research Vessel
On February 17, 2013, AGMUS students had the opportunity to tour the NOAA Ronald H. Brown Research Vessel. The tour lasted about three hours and the students were shown the whole ship including control rooms, equipment, labs, rooms, kitchen, library and other places. Students also had the opportunity to talk with several professors and scientist about research opportunities in collaboration with NOAA.

Richard Tapia 2013 Conference
Raul Viera, CCCE Scholar and computer science student from UPR-Arecibo, was awarded the best undergraduate poster presentation at the Richard Tapia 2013 Conference, in Washington DC, for his research "Simulated Physical Devices for Automated Testing of the Argus System" done at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in Lawrence, California, during the summer of 2012.
