Pre-College Project

The Caribbean Computing Center for Excellence will offer a pre-college research experience to 320 high school students per year in the computer related fields. Each student will have a first hand research experience in the area of interest, as well as have the opportunity to explore the university environment.

During a sixteen (16) week period the pre-college high school students will work with college level professors and students from other high schools learning the new developments in the computer science fields. At the end of the period, all participants will have the opportunity to present the results of the research in the Pre-College Research Symposium.

During the summer, fifteen (15) pre-college students will be selected to work in research projects at partner institutions in the US mainland.

The selected students will be involved in:

  • Mentorship and a team learning environment.
  • Research methodology (search, research, background information, research goals, mathematical model, sampling, measurement, testing, analysis, outcomes, conclusions, further work, acknowledgements, references, publication, dissemination).
  • Up-to-date knowledge in computer sciences and technology information fields.
  • Development of Power Point presentations / Posters
  • Participation in symposia (Outreach)


  • GPA > 3.0 or higher.
  • Submit CCCE formal application.
  • Two letters of recommendation from your science & math teachers.
  • Authorization from your parents.
  • Authorization from your school.
  • Official transcripts from school.

**Students interested in pursuing studies in medicine will not be considered for this program**
